Celebration of Independence Day of Georgia in Zagreb

The guests were addressed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia, Zaal Gogsadze.

 In his speech, he spoke about the historical significance of the national day and the importance of this celebration for the Georgian people. The Ambassador emphasized the 3,000-year history of Georgian statehood and the 1,700th anniversary of Christianity being declared the state religion of Georgia.

The Ambassador spoke about active cooperation between Georgia and Croatia in the political, economic, and cultural spheres and highlighted future prospects and opportunities for further deepening cooperation between the countries.

As part of the celebration, a concert by pianist Gigi Chipashvili (Pianoman) was held, who introduced the audience to the works of Georgian composers.

At the end of the evening Lizi Svanidze Georgian student of Zagreb Academy of Music, performed the “Kyrie Eleison” by Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia.

The reception was attended by representatives of the legislative and executive authorities of the Republic of Croatia, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, representatives of  international organizations, academic and cultural circles, the media and the diaspora.
